If you cannot sleep on that side

It was never bursitis.
And it was never your age.

The bursa is a sac of fluid. Underneath it runs a tendon, and in most cases that tendon is what hurts. It has been quietly fraying for years — which is why everything aimed at swelling went nowhere.

The whole thing, in four lines
What it is
One ingredient. Moringa oleifera leaf, 800 mg. Nothing else in the capsule.
What it does
Feeds the fibroblast — the one cell that lays down and cross-links tendon collagen.
How long
Ninety days. That is one full remodeling cycle. Week six is the first honest read.
What it costs
About a dollar a day, with a ninety-day guarantee on the whole thing.

You can put two fingers on it.

The bony knob on the outside of the hip. Not the groin, not the back — the side, right where the mattress meets it.

Lying on that side for ten minutes. Getting out of the car. The first four stairs. Standing in a queue with your weight on one leg. Rolling over in the night and waking up because of it.

It has rearranged your sleep. You have a side of the bed now, and it is not the one you used to have. Some people are two pillows into this and still not comfortable.

And somewhere along the way the walk got shorter. Not a decision — nobody decides that. The long way round the park became the short way. The stairs became the lift. You stopped standing for the whole conversation.

Another year of this and that list is longer, not shorter.

Someone told you it was bursitis.

Almost everyone with this gets told that. The itis on the end means inflammation, so you did what anyone does for inflammation. Ibuprofen. Ice. The stretches off the internet. Maybe the shot. Months of it, and the hip is still the hip.

Here is what changed, and nobody called to tell you.

When they started putting these hips through scanners and looking at the tissue properly, the bursa usually was not the problem. The tendon underneath it was — frayed, thickened, its collagen fibers out of line. The bursa was often just caught in the crossfire.

hip-02-tendon-pair.jpg

Not a fire.
A frayed rope.

The medical name changed to match. What was called trochanteric bursitis for most of a century is now written up as gluteal tendinopathy — a tendon that has come apart, not a sac that has swollen. Same hip. Completely different problem.

And you cannot ice a frayed rope back together.

And it is not simply your age

Roughly one woman in four over fifty has this. It is the most common tendon problem in the lower body, and women get it between two and four times as often as men — not because of how much you have done, but because a wider pelvis sets that tendon at a sharper angle over the bone.1

Which means the other three women in four are the same age as you and do not have it. Age is the company this keeps. It is not the cause.

The cause is a specific piece of tissue, in a specific spot, doing a specific thing — and that is something you can actually address.

It is not random. It is one position.

Why it is worse lying down than walking

The band that runs down the outside of your thigh presses the tendon against that knob of bone. How hard it presses depends entirely on where your leg is.

Leg straight underneath you4 N
Leg crossed over the midline106 N

Twenty-five times the load, from nothing more than where the knee ends up.2

Now look at the list again. Lying on that side, the top leg falls across. Sitting with your knees crossed. Standing with your weight on one hip. Swinging your legs out of the car. Every single one of them puts that leg across the midline. They are not separate complaints. They are one position, and it is the position that squeezes hardest.

That is also why rest alone never settled it. The position does not stop at night — it is how most people stand, sit and sleep. The tendon gets squeezed against that bone a few thousand times a day, and the cell that is supposed to repair it never gets a clear run at the job.

Damage stacks. Remodeling does not — not on its own.

Which means most of what you tried was aimed at the wrong tissue.

Grade each one with a single question: does it feed the tissue, or does it manage the problem?

Ibuprofen
Aimed at inflammation.

The cortisone shot
Aimed at inflammation, usually at the bursa. Strong relief for a season.
Manages
Rolling the outside of the thigh
Presses the band down onto the exact spot it already presses on.
Manages
Pulling the knee across to stretch it
Puts the leg into the position the tendon is compressed in.
Manages
Turmeric
Aimed at inflammation.

Glucosamine
Built for cartilage inside a joint. This is a tendon on the outside of one.

None of them are wrong, exactly. They are aimed at a fire. And they hand the cells that rebuild tendon nothing to build with.

What happened when they actually tested the shot

Two hundred and four people with this exact problem, average age fifty-five, five out of six of them women. Three groups: a cortisone shot, a programme aimed at the tendon, or nothing at all. Then they counted who was better at eight weeks and again at a year.3

8 weeks1 year
Aimed at the tendon77%79%
The cortisone shot59%58%
Nothing at all29%52%

The shot wins the first two months and then stops moving. By twelve months it is no longer doing better than the people who were told to go home and wait.

That is not an argument against your doctor. It is the clearest evidence there is that quieting the inflammation and addressing the tendon are two different jobs.

The leaf three continents have eaten for generations.

Moringa oleifera. A daily staple across Africa, South Asia and Central America — food, not medicine. Nobody ever put it in front of you as a tendon thing.

It feeds the fibroblast. That is the one cell in the body that lays down and cross-links tendon collagen. It has been sitting between your fibers this whole time with nothing to build with.

hip-04-bottle-hip-fed.jpg

One capsule a morning. The fibroblasts go back to work.

New collagen goes down. The frayed fibers pull back into line. Lock in. Pack denser, week by week.

That is tendon density. Not managed. Not masked. Built.

Where the evidence actually sits. Moringa leaf's effect on the fibroblast has been studied in wound-healing and skin models. Nobody has run the tendon trial yet. It is the same cell doing the same job in both tissues, and that is the reasoning the whole product is built on — but it is reasoning, not a tendon study, and you deserve to hear that from us rather than find it out later.

What people say.

Straight answer: we have not been selling to this audience long enough to show you hip reviews, and we are not going to invent them. These are verified buyers who took it for tendons elsewhere. The tissue is the same wherever it runs — but you should know exactly what you are looking at.

Grant Wexley · From the founder

Why this exists.

Mine was the elbow, not the hip. Forty years old, sitting in an exam room, and the doctor said tendinitis and handed me a brace. I asked what the itis part meant. He said inflammation. I asked whether he had actually seen any.

I am an engineer, so that answer sent me into the literature instead of the pharmacy, and what I found was twenty years of imaging studies saying the same thing about tendons all over the body: not inflamed, degenerated. The hip is the worst-named one of the lot — a whole generation was told bursitis and treated for swelling that was never the main event.

Nineteen months later I had a single-ingredient capsule aimed at the cell that builds the tissue. One ingredient, because I wanted to know whether it worked.

Ninety days.
Anyone who tells you faster is selling you something else.

Tendon turns over on a cycle you cannot negotiate with. Roughly ninety days for the tissue to actually remodel — not ninety days to feel something, ninety days for the structure to change.

We are not telling you that to get you onto a subscription. We would rather you bought ninety days once and never heard from us again than bought thirty and decided it did not work.

There is no ingredient, no cream, no shot that rebuilds collagen faster than collagen rebuilds. That is not a marketing position. That is the cell cycle. So when a label promises you results in two weeks, it is not promising you structure. It is promising you a mask — and you already own several of those.

Fast is the tell.

Which is also why nothing dramatic happens here in week one. Anything you can feel in seven days is a mask lifting, not fibers pulling into line. Week six is usually the first honest read. Month three is where it stops being a question.

Week 1
Nothing dramatic. Anything you can feel this fast is a mask lifting.
Week 6
The first honest read.
Month 3
One full remodeling cycle. Where it stops being a question.

Take it for thirty days and you will have started something you did not finish. Take it for ninety and you will know.

Straight answers.

They told me it was bursitis. Were they wrong?

Not wrong so much as working from an older map. Bursitis was the standard name for this for most of a century. When imaging got good enough to look properly, the tendon underneath turned out to be the usual source and the bursa often a bystander. The name in the literature changed; the name in most waiting rooms has not caught up yet.

Is this just arthritis? Is it just my age?

Hip arthritis is a different thing in a different place — it usually hurts in the groin and the front, and it is the joint itself. This is on the outside, on the bone you can press with two fingers, and it is a tendon. Age travels with it, but roughly three women in four over fifty do not have this, which tells you age on its own is not what causes it.

I already had the cortisone shot.

Plenty of people here have. It is an anti-inflammatory on a schedule and it is aimed at a different target, so nothing here interferes with it — ask your doctor about timing if you are mid-course. Worth knowing that in the trial above the shot's advantage had disappeared by twelve months, which is the pattern most people describe to us.

Should I stop my physio exercises?

No. Keep doing exactly what your physiotherapist gave you. Loading the tendon and feeding the cell that rebuilds it are two different jobs and they are not in competition. If anything they belong together.

Why ninety days and not thirty?

Because that is how long the tissue takes. Thirty days of a ninety-day cycle is an unfinished experiment, and you will conclude the wrong thing from it. We would rather you waited than wasted the attempt.

I am post-menopausal. Does that change anything?

It is a fair question and the honest answer is that tendon tissue does change through menopause, which is one reason this shows up when it does. Tap-Less is a single leaf at a food dose — no hormones, nothing hormonal in it, nothing that interacts with HRT. If you are on anything, check with your doctor as you would with any supplement.

Will it keep me awake?

No. No caffeine, no stimulants, nothing in the capsule but moringa leaf. Most people take it with breakfast.

I am on medication.

Moringa leaf is a food, eaten daily by millions. No stimulants, no drugs. Check with your doctor — especially blood thinners, blood pressure or thyroid medication.

One plant. One mechanism.

Here is what managing it has cost so far. The gel is fifteen a tube and you are on your third. The roller was forty. The shot runs a few hundred and buys a season, and the trial above says that twelve months on it has stopped counting for anything. Tap-Less is about a dollar a day for the one thing on that list aimed at the tissue itself — and the ninety days are guaranteed.
